DescriptionKhalilullah II inherited Shirvan when his father died, apparantly of natural causes. He took in a guy who was wanted by the Safavids, but he died before much could happen. His successor was attacked and destroyed by the Safavids.Shirvan is a region of modern Azerbaijan. There was a domain run by two successive dynasties for about seven centuries. The court was a center of Persian literary activity in the 13th century. In the 16th century the Shirvanshah was defeated by the Safavids, but were allowed to continue as vassals. In 1538 the Safavid Shah deposed the last Shirvanshah and annexed the region.The term “Islamic coins” refers to coins made by Muslim governments from the time of the first caliphs to an end point in time that varies with the particular country being considered, but is generally some time from the 17th to 19th century.
