The gold tenner is made of 900/1000 gold, weighs 6.72 grams and has a diameter of 22 ½ millimeters. The gold tenner has the portrait of Queen Wilhelmina, and on the coin side the Dutch coat of arms with the value and year. The golden ten was circulated up to and including the 1930s, only the paper money of the Dutch bank, and the silver coupons of the Ministry of Finance, were not exchangeable for gold (only silver) as from 1914. The gold tenner is part of the series of coins issued under Queen Wilhelmina put into circulation, and in addition to the gold tenner, the following coins were issued under the monarchship of Queen Wilhelmina from 1890 through 1948: - Half-cent Wilhelmina; – Cent Wilhelmina; – Two and a half cents Wilhelmina; – Five-cent "night quarter" Wilhelmina; – Five-cent square Wilhelmina; – Ten-cent Wilhelmina; – Quarter Wilhelmina; – Half guilder Wilhelmina; – Golden Wilhelmina; – Reichdaalder or two and a half guilders Wilhelmina; – Five guilder Wilhelmina; The silver coins of Queen Wilhelmina were withdrawn from circulation during World War II, and from 1948 the remaining coins were replaced by a new series of coins of; – 1 cent 1948; – 5 cents 1948; – 10 cents 1948; – 25 cents 1948.
